Who might join the Mary’s Meadow cohousing community?Because Estes Park is a small town, relative to cities with established cohousing communities, we anticipate that only a limited number of residents will be from the local area. Consistent with the philosophy of diversity within cohousing communities, affordable units are planned as part of the total complex. We would expect these to be filled by local residents. We also expect that the project will be attractive to retirees who have recently moved to Estes Park, and who have not yet purchased a permanent residence. We expect to attract retirees from around the country who are advocates of cohousing and would like to live in a cohousing community in the mountains. We anticipate that the project will attract residents of Colorado’s front
range communities who wish to live in the mountains and commute to Fort Collins,
Loveland, Longmont, and Boulder. Some hardy souls who are able to telecommute
may wish to relocate from the Denver area and arrange their lives so that they
need take only a few trips down the mountain each month. |
